There could be one of those cloned trucks on their way to the same neighborhood your own children play in.

Okay, seriously? If you are going to try to clone a work truck so you can carry drugs and drug money around, do your homework. Not only are you told to “Don’t Mess with Texas“, you may need to learn “Don’t Mess with TXDot”

Although this particular story happened back in 2007, the truth is, cloning work or company trucks, whether they be TX Dot, Fed Ex or a moving van, has become a bit commonplace. One might think the guy could have gotten away with it if he had waved at the other driver but the truth is that the truck was not a perfect clone and that would have registered with other TX Dot workers as well.

The state troopers that are grumbled about by some truck drivers are not just checking to make sure said drivers are legally following rules and laws, but they are also checking for clones as well. This is not just happening in Texas but elsewhere, too, as this case in Florida with a Fed Ex truck shows. Drug dealers are turning to cloning trucks in order to try to get drugs from one place to another without raising suspicion.

Emails about this story made their way through many inboxes this weekend. After it hit mine, I double checked to see if the story was real or just one of those spamable forwards. Finding out that it was indeed true, although 2 years old, still made me want to share it on here as it definitely relates to the subject matter of this particular blog. Plus, there is a serious reality check here. Drug deals are all about money. The dealers do not care about the danger to a person’s health, they are in it for the money.

While the emails carry on through the weekend, the truth is, cloning trucks is happening more and more. However, the criminals are getting caught. Maybe not during the first trip but yes, eventually. With cloning going on, there are more trucks being stopped and checked. So grumble if you want if you are an innocent trucker but the troopers are just doing their jobs. If you are obeying the law, you have nothing to worry about. But for every five or so of you stopped and passing a check, remember, there is one not following rules making it harder on the rest of you and in between? There could be one of those cloned trucks on their way to the same neighborhood your own children play in.
